Martin Cullen, Working for Waterford

Today Ireland finds itself under the most challenging economic conditions. This Government is committed to working with all stakeholders to confront the difficulties this country faces in a global recession.

This Government will continue to make difficult decisions in the interests of the country.

Our task now is to protect jobs, while we restore stability to the public finances, maximise short-term economic activity and improve this country’s competitiveness. World economies have always been subject to cycles. It is important that even as we manage immediate difficulties, we position ourselves as we have done successfully in the past, so that we come out ahead in the inevitable upturn.

Ireland must keep driving forward. Fianna Fáil believes in representing the whole community and working for the benefit of everyone in our society.

I am very honoured as a Waterford person to have served as your elected representative over 20 years: as a TD, in the Seanad, as a Minister of State, as Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, as Minister for Transport, as Minister for Social and Family Affairs and presently as Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism.

I will continue to work on your behalf to influence government policy over the coming years.

If you wish to contact me on any local, national or personal matter, please do not hesitate to do so.

Thank you very much, Minister Martin Cullen, TD
